Helmut Joseph Michael Kohl (Ludwigshafen am Rhein, 3 de abril de 1930-ibidem, 16 de junio de 2017) fue un político y estadista alemán. Desempeñó el cargo de canciller de Alemania entre el 1 de octubre de 1982 y el 27 de octubre de 1998. Hasta el 3 de octubre de 1990, fecha de la reunificación de Alemania, fue canciller únicamente de la República Federal de Alemania y, a partir de ese momento, de la Alemania unida. También dirigió el partido Unión Demócrata Cristiana (CDU) entre 1973 y 1998
